| VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FRIENDS OF BASEBALL The team is looking for parents to help out with fundraisers and other baseball activities, including selling tickets to this April's game at New Britain Stadium, home of the RockCats. We're looking for people to help contribute content to this web site, run the scoreboards during the spring, take photos during the games and many other exciting positions.
This year's FRIENDS OF BASEBALL chairman is David Strohm. Any volunteers should contact David at david_strohm@genpt.com if you're interested in helping out for the 2009 Blue Dragon baseball season. You'll have fun while helping out the team and the community.

Message From the Captains:
We are proud of what we have accomplished so far but know that things aren't over yet.
We met our goal of making States but we have much more to strive for, and with the talent on this team we can go far in the tournament.
We need to take one game at a time and play fundamental baseball. Continue to play errorless ball, continue to get strong pitching performances and throw in some timely hitting. If we add some heart along with our talent we will succeed.
Let's come together, play as a team and win the state championship.

Message From the Coach:
I am proud of the accomplishments and goals we have achieved thus far.
It is clear to see the off-season/pre-season conditioning and workouts
have paid off. We have a lot more work to do. Keep working hard and we
will reach our goals. "TEAMWORK makes the DREAM WORK!"

MHS Wins 2009 Winter League Championship
The Middletown High School indoor winter baseball team won the 2009 League Championship on 2/11/09 at the Farmington Sports Arena. In the B divisional semi-final, Middletown defeated Bristol Eastern. Each team scored 2 runs and Middletown was awarded the win with more hits.
The Middletown 6 (there are no outfielders) easily defeated Manchester 9-1 in the divisional final setting up the Championship game with the A division winner Bristol Eastern (they fielded 2 teams in the league). This game was well played by both teams, ending in a 2-2 tie through 8 innings. The tiebreaker also came into play in determining the winner. Both teams had the same number of hits but Middletown had 1 more double than Bristol Eastern.
Congratulations to Coach Colfield and the entire Middletown team.
